Gems of Imam Hassan Al-Askari (as) – Part 2

On the 8th of Rabi Al-Thani 232 AH, the world was blessed with the birth of Imam Hassan Al-Askari (as), the eleventh Imam of the Ahlulbayt (as).

His life was marked by knowledge, patience, and devotion to Allah (swt).

As the Quran tells us in Surah Taha, “O My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” (Quran 20:114)

In this second part of our two-blog series, we look at three of his inspiring hadiths and the lessons they offer Muslims today.

Finding Blessings in Every Trial

Imam Hassan Al-Askari (as) has been narrated to have said, “Every single ordeal contains a favor from Allah (swt) that encompasses it.” (Bihar al-Anwar, v.78, p.373, n.34)

Life’s trials may appear burdensome, but within them lies a blessing or a lesson.

Recognizing this encourages patience and gratitude, allowing believers to see challenges as opportunities for spiritual growth and deeper trust in Allah’s (swt) wisdom.

The Unmatched Gift of Humbleness

The Imam (as) has reportedly said, “Humbleness is a blessing that cannot be envied.” (Tuhaf al-Uqul, p.489)

Real humility comes from understanding that every good thing is from Allah (swt), keeping the believer safe from arrogance.

Unlike worldly riches, humility stirs no envy, as it lifts a person in the sight of Allah (swt) without seeking approval from people.

True Beauty Inside and Out

Imam Al-Askari (as) is reported to have said, “Physical beauty is the outer beauty, and the beauty of the intellect is inner beauty.” (Alam al-Din, n.313 )

Looks may catch attention, but it is wisdom and thoughtful insight, blessings from Allah (swt), that truly last.

Building knowledge and sharpening the mind creates a beauty that time cannot take away.

Conclusion

Imam Hassan Al-Askari’s (as) teachings show us that trials carry blessings, humility is a precious gift, and knowledge creates lasting beauty.

These lessons encourage faith and personal growth.

Through his wisdom, we are shown that every challenge, act of humility, and pursuit of knowledge can draw us closer to Allah.
