Radd al-Madhalim is the act of repaying or returning rights, property, or wealth wrongfully taken, whether knowingly or unknowingly, in accordance with Islamic justice. When the wronged party cannot be identified or located, you can fulfill your obligation by giving charity on their behalf. This act restores balance, compensates for the harm, and allows you to clear your conscience, earn spiritual reward, and transform the lives of those in need. 

There are 4 things:

• Make a genuine effort to identify the wronged party: Attempt to locate the person you wronged and return what is rightfully theirs.

• Determine the amount or value: Calculate the amount or value of what was wrongfully taken, and if unsure, make a reasonable estimate.

• Seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT): Repent to Allah (swt) for the wrong committed and intend not to repeat the mistake.

• Receive permission from your Marja (religious authority): As an obligatory precaution, you must receive permission from your Marja before you can give Radd al-Madhalim.

Radd al-Madhalim is an obligation and an opportunity to purify your wealth and soul. It allows you to correct any mistakes or injustices you may have unknowingly committed, offering a way to seek forgiveness while helping the vulnerable.
