Support our medical camps in Skardu, Pakistan
Providing vital OB/GYN and eye care to over 2,000 patients.
In the rugged terrain of the Himalayan mountain range lies Skardu, Pakistan, a remote city where access to medical care is a daunting challenge. Imagine being a mother, feeling the pangs of childbirth, knowing that the nearest OB/GYN doctor is hours away by car, and sometimes entirely unreachable during the harsh winter months. This is the reality for many women in Skardu.
For the past six years, The Zahra Trust has been a beacon of hope for these women, organizing surgical interventional OB/GYN camps to provide critical care. But the need is still immense. With only one OB/GYN doctor for every 100,000 females in the area, the gap in healthcare provision is vast. Medications and surgical supplies often run dry, leaving families in dire situations.
Yet, amidst these challenges, there’s a glimmer of hope. The Zahra Trust is gearing up for its next mission: not just one, but two medical relief camps. In September 2024, they plan to hold another OB/GYN camp, offering screenings, check-ups, surgeries, and medications to over 2,000 women. But that’s not all. They’re also pioneering an eye camp, the first of its kind in the region, addressing the desperate need for vision correction and treatment of various ailments.
